running scripts and charging for open source

The new platform ipower has switched to will not allow scripts to be run to create databases thus many installations will not install. arrg. I have been with ipower many years in spite of others telling me to switch. I have remained loyal but now I am very irritated. They CHARGE for open source stuff like joomla phpnuke oscommerce etc. and do not like you running scripts to install your own, good grief. their support is bone headed, Support cannot repeat more than sentence at a time.

Can't Edit My Website

When Ipower Down-Upgraded my website to VDeck control panel I lost my ability to easily edit the pages. It has been almost two years now. Ipower's only suggestion was to start over and us Site Delux, or use their file manager. Oh, they also suggested that I could buy a new text editor.

I would like to move my site, but that involves more uncertainty, frustration, time, and cost. Does anyone know of a text editor that works well with ipowerweb's old site editor called iPage?

Ipower blocking Obama e-mail

I subscribe to several groups in support of Barack Obama, donate to his campaign, participate in GOTV and campaign efforts locally, and generally support the man for President.

As of 10/2/08, all communication ceased from the Obama campaign. Listserv messages, campaign updates, dispatches -- nothing. I opened several tickets with no resolution, and I eventually went to another e-mail address and now am receiving all my e-mails.

ipower is out of their mind

i have hosted several sites with ipower for many years and have many stories to tell. i finally left them about a year ago, but still the horror continues.

over the past couple of years, they have started actually answering the phones, which is huge for them. however, once you get a live person, they just read from a script...the script reads something like this 'sorry, but the last tech/sales person you spoke with did not priortize your issue, therefore nothing has been done. i will prioritize the ticket now and the issue will be resolved by the end of the day'

A phone call isn't good enough!

I get on one of my many websites (hosted by iPower) one day and realize that it's not coming up. It finally throws up a "page cannot be found." So, I called iPower and was on hold for 90 minutes waiting for Tech Support. This was during the middle of all their account transitions to the new platform.

'I' In Ipower stands for ineptitude

I had an e-mail problem that ended up in faulty mail routing loops. Apparently their mail is handled offsite, well once they finally fixed the issue, mail started flowing correctly. I started receiving e-mails that were sent to me four months ago! They are Inept and Incompetent. Steer well clear.

apparently, judging by these two threads on webhostingtalk, iPower not only sucks for web hosting but also as a domain name registrar:

On Sept. 26th, iPower said they upgraded their MySQL servers to speed things up.

Now my wordpress blog site on iPower gets disconnection problems ever 5 minutes. And it's so slow now. To post, sometimes it takes 2 minutes. And the worst part...imagine a long news post and then you get the "Forbidden...can't post on this server" or even the "can't connect to __domain___ipowermysql.com" page. Even their technical support people noticed it was slow but said that they are probably working on it and doesn't know why things are going so sluggish.

IPower is useless

When my website was phished and therefore looked as if it didn't exist any more, I emailed Ipower three times. The second email received a standard reply that my enquiry would be dealt with. Nothing happened of course. I send a fourth email saying that I would not renew my subscription unless the matter was corrected, giving them the deadline of the renewal date to sort things out. I head nothing and subsequently cancelled my subscription 24 hours before it expired. IPower ignored this and collected the following year's subscription from my credit card.
