Ipower has been down for 12 hrs now
By wale - June 7th, 2008
I run an online store, this is what pays my bills. As soon as they are back on, I'm going to make a backup and start searching for a reasonable host. Does anyone have any recommendations

In short, HostMonster.com. You may have seen some of my posts here while I was a livid iPower victim and shortly after. I spent a full week testing out other hosts. First just to figure out who in the market was simply an iPower clone (there are a few different operating names for this pos), second to setup 30 day trial accounts and validate their claims on my production site. On my third try I landed on HostMonster.com and have been trilled with their pricing, performance and support. So thrilled in fact, that I signed up for their affiliate program and have been plugging them to all my friends and family (and this board). Use the link above if you found the advice helpful and want to return the favor.
my down time
83:24 HOURS this week, nice huh?
I am so glad I left
Not to mess with your affiliate bucks... but in the interest of full public disclosure people should know that Hostmonster is merely a subsidiary of Bluehost.
I recommend that everyone use the Firefox browser, and download the Netcraft add-on (http://toolbar.netcraft.com). This shows you (among other things) what host a site is REALLY running on.
It's amazing how many "Hosting Companies" don't actually host their own sites :P
